Don't feel like we're getting very far

ok, it has only been 2 weeks, but I am starting to get frustrated with it all. I started DS (2.6) potty training as he seemed to be ready to do it and with a baby on the way and Christmas coming up it seemed good to get it out of the way.

Last weekend we seemed to be making progress, he was doing lots in his potty and remembering to get on it when he needed to go, and on Wednesday he even managed a small poo (tmi, sorry). But today we seem to be back to square one.

He has weed in 3 pairs of pants, and doesn't even seem to notice when he's done it. Nursery have been a great help in the last couple of weeks and even though there's usually something to wash when I get home, he has mostly gone on the potties there with no problem.

I don't want to give up on him, but at the same time I don't want to continue to force the issue if the time just isn't right.

Sorry for the long post but wwyd? persist and let him go pantsless around the house for a while longer hoping that he will get it gradually or shelve it for later when he might get the hang of it quicker

Maybe he's just not ready? with both my DSs I waited until they were nearly three and then went for it 100% and they both got the hang of it within a few days. My DCs are 20months apart in age so I couldn't be doing with faffing about with accidents and a little baby!

You're not giving up on him if you leave it a bit longer - they are all different but they all get there in the end Smile

Agree, maybe not quite ready. I waited until DS was 2.11 and he was "done" in a week. Previous efforts had not worked at all.
