DD is 22m and doing really well with potty training. When we're at home, I'd say we're 100% there. When out with me, if in town or restaurant or something, also pretty much 100% - she seems to hold her wee for ages until we get home, but is happy to do this.
However, problem is when we're with other kids/playgroup/music class etc. She tells me that she wants to do a wee (sometimes has already done a bit) but doesn't want to stop playing to sit on potty. Yesterday and today we were at friends for playdates. When I took her to the toilet with the portable potty, she just refused to go. Then did more of a dribble a bit later and asked to go again, but refused. So obviously holding it because then doing big wee when home.
So I don't know if:
- She's weeing more than she otherwise would because she's excited (as quite often when out with just me, she will not wee for hours and hours!)
- She doesn't like the portable potty
- She just finds being in a different bathroom too unsettling
- She just can't be bothered to stop playing to go for a wee
Any thoughts or ideas. THe only thing I've come up with so far is to take her normal potty out instead of the portable one, as maybe she doesn't like that. Although has happily used it in the back of car etc. Think it's the different bathroom and knowing her friends are waiting to play that's stopping her from going.
Help! Don't want to put her back in nappies for playdates, she's doing so well otherwise.
