Should I start training when new baby 2 months away??

My DD is 2yrs 2mths old. We tried potty training end of August just after she turned 2 and despite putting her on every 15 mins she would get off the potty and within 2 mins have an accident and by the 3rd time she was crying and asking for her potty as she was mid wee having only just got off potty. I know my MIL thought I should have continued but I wasn't seeing her distressed like that anymore and for me that was a clear sign she wasn't ready so back in nappies she went.

My second baby is due mid Dec and I have read children can take a few steps back when a baby arrives in terms of potty training. I've also heard it's easier to do it when they are completely ready. (I don't see the point of saying she's potty trained if half the time she still has accidents.)

But I have got her one of these squishy seats to go on the loo which she loves and just put her on and she did a wee and was delighted. Do I give it a go and see if she's ready and risk her going backwards and getting upset when baby here or leave till MArch time next year??

If she was delighted and wants to , I'd just get on with it and see :)

I potty trained my 23 month old 4 weeks before her brother was born because she was obviously ready-kept taking her nappies off at nap time and peeing in her toy box!
She didn't regress, but was still having the odd accident when her brother arrived, so I just packed spare clothes for her in the changing bag when we went out.
