Please help me get DS trained

My DS is 2.9. I am encountering a bit of hassle from his dad, who insists he should be trained (at least to do a poo in the potty) by now. Our DD was dry day and night at exactly 2 but she was exceptional in other areas too and I can claim no victory as she more or less did it all herself, with very little coercion or help from either of us.

DS has a nice potty (the large Fisher-Price Frog one from Argos) which he loves, but simply refuses to sit on it with no nappy/clothes on. He'll carry it around, play with it and wear it on his head though.

DH moans every time he has to change another soiled nappy and it's making my life hard trying to explain that he'll do it himself when he's ready.

In the meantime, any tips? And would anyone care to tell me DH that he's not too old to still be using nappies?

I don't think that at 2.9 it is terrible that he is still in nappies. Does he have any friends the same age and are they in nappies?

Unless your DH comes into regular contact with children the same age as your DS he needs to think about what information he is forming his opinion on. Is it just the fact that your DD was dry by then?

As for beginning potty training, I can't recommended this book enough. Its not a how too, just a sensible approach and it makes you feel like you know your child best, which obviously you do.

Get your DH to read it soon would be my advice

For god's sake wait until your son is ready.....unless you do it very young because unless they know it'll be misery.

My dd was 19 months and out of nappies, my boys 2.5 and 3.3....the 2.5 said I want to wear pants and in two days he went fomr nappies to none, not even at night.

Oh we are having this now.

DS same age as yours OP. He has been sitting on it though so I think we are moving on. But again we had a very breezy very little input from us experience with DS1.
