Holding in Wee's and Poo's

We started DD in potty training a couple of days ago. Shes 2.2yrs old.

She has been familiar with the potty for ages now and we have had a poo on the potty before. She did however freak out when she saw it in the potty!
Now we have started properly we had had 2 days with only 1 accident which is great but also no results on the potty. She either has a large bladder or is holding it. She is wearing a nappy at nap time and bedtime but they dont seem any fuller than normal. I bet she just pee's in the bath!

She also hasnt poo'd for the past 2 days. She has been showing signs of wanting to go, sits on the potty but doesnt go.
We have tried various approaches.. Bribery with stickers and chocolate, reading Poo goes to Pooland etc.

Anyone any advice??

a lot of children who are new to the potty have trouble letting go at first. they believe their pee and poo is part of them and it scares hem to let it fall away from them. i remember my ds saying he wanted his poo back!!

things i have tried -

tickling on the potty (and then sweet if even the smallest drip of wee comes out)

extra drinks (so they can't hang on forever) - orange juice to make poo easy.

use of cold/ hot (opened the door and let the cold draft hit her whilst on the potty)

cbeebies potty session - in the night garden / waybuloo very relaxing and sometimes they just let the bladder go..they also will be less inclined to get up in suprise

relaxing stories for the same reason (i find if you ask them lots of questions they forget to hold their wee).

i did have DS playing outside until a drip appeared, at which point i asked him to sit indoors and then heavily rewarded any drip of wee...getting a bit cold for that sort of training.

try showing her not sure it helps, but my kids enjoy it...

and wee on the potty yourself. nothing says something is good like Mummy doing it. This will usually need plentiful repetition.

the great thing about PT - is you can be certain she'll get there sooner or later.

hello, my son is 3 next month and i started potty training him last month, he picked it up pretty quickly but the last week or so ive noticed him holding in his poo saying he cant go cause it hurts him bum so he runs around the house and will poo on the floor but not in the potty, ive just had to bribe him with everyting, gingerbread men, biscuits, chocolate, stickers everthing and he does it and i just make the biggest deal out of it giving him big hugs and loads of kisses, getting him to phone his dad and tell him and he loves all the attention and now he goes.

DD2 had this problem and it led to her having terrible stomach pains and we took her to hospital - she waas fine once she went for a wee!

We left it for a further year and potty trained her in June - she's now 3 and 9 months.

She's still the same with poos and won't poo anywhere except a nappy which we put on at night.

So, no advice but I hope it helps you knowing that your child isn't the only one who has done this.

This is happening to me at the moment! For the past 3 days DD has held back for such an extent during the day that she then wees loads in the night time when she has a nappy on. Her nappy has been unable to contain it all, and she has been in wet sheets and pyjamas every morning.
I actually went back to nappies yesterday, and told her it was OK, she had a nappy on. We were out for the whole day, but the nappy was totally dry when we got home. Then she said she wanted to sit on the potty, so we let her but she just couldn't go.
She was on the potty in front of the TV or listening to a story for about 45 minutes!! Not a drop. Eventually we had to put her to bed. Of course she was soaked through this morning :(
Am off to buy extra waterproof sheets today, will be watching this thread avidly in the hope of any tips.
