Why are poos so much harder to crack?!

My 20m old DD is doing well (well, relatively well) with her PT. Just starting to get to the point where she's beginning to realise she needs to do a wee and ask me before, or just after starting. I've stopped prompting her so she can learn when she needs to go.

But poos are a different matter. She doesn't ask before she needs to go one, just lets it go wherever she is!!!

Are they just harder to control? I guess they are harder to hold in than wees. Should I keep going or does this mean she's not ready?

We have had more wee accidents since I stopped prompting, but maybe only 1-2 daily, which I don't think is too bad.

Thoughts? Am so unsure whether to keep going or give up, especially as she's only 20m and I don't have much support from anyone because of her age.

20 months is a bit young tbh ime and in the long run it might actually take you longer to succesfully potty train your daughter than it would be if she was older iyswim,

As for poos well I think that its a different sensation to doing a wee and it is quite daunting for some children to do it anywhere apart from a nappy. Some children get it quite quickly and some like my dd who is 3 yrs and 4 months has only just clicked with the poos and its taken about 3 months.

My other two children were both 2 and a half
when I potty trained them and they got it quite quickly.

I just think you should wait a few more months before you train your dd, although I expect others will be along to tell you differently!

My DD is 20 months and can warn me when she is doing a poo, although she immediately runs off squealing. Wees pass her by unnoticed, so I think it's different for each child.

We are waiting until she is 2 or so. We have a potty and let her sit on it when she likes, but she's never actually produced anything

My dd never did anything at all in the potty, not one drop she's always preferred the toilet

Well she told me she wanted to do a poo this morning and we caught that on the toilet. But am going to give it anotehr week or so overall and see where we're at. If not winning, I'm happy to go back to nappies for a few months.

DS was totally horrified when he actually SAW the poo the first time he did it in the potty. It was totally by accident as he was just getting used to peeing on the potty. He stood up all proud and looked shouting "pee pee! pee pee!" and when he saw the poo he backed of and would not sit on the potty again.

We are struggling a bit with it all now and have gone back to nappies in the meantime. He is just over 2 now and MIL is piling on the pressure in a round about way ("X was potty trained by the time they were..." "Does he use the potty then?") and that kind of thing every time she is over here.

Makes you wonder how everyone learns to use the toilet as sometimes it feels like they're never gonna get used to it. One step forwards two steps back but I guess once they are PT'd we'll forget how hard it was!
