Potty training too soon?

Help

My 2.25 year old DD doesn't like wearing nappies any more so have been trying to potty train for 3 days now, but she has no interest in sitting on the potty and either says no she won't sit on it or just cries.

I can say come and sit on potty and she says no but 30 seconds later wees on floor and then says mummy I have weed. She will says potty's are for wees and poos but just won't go near them. Am I trying this to soon or should I keep trying.

Have you tried doing some kind of reward system / star chart? Sounds like she might be just afraid of the potty rather than that she isn't ready.

Yes - we have a reward chart and she knows that she gets sticker and treat if she wees or poos in potty

Maybe its the potty she does not like, my SIl put my nieces straight on the toilet with a special seat insert and that was that! Buy her a nice special step and a nice seat and make an occasion of it maybe?

i tried on and off with my 26month old for months, having the odd morning with no nappy on and he suddenly got it a month ago. we had a book (can't remember what it's called but is a funny story book about a princess and her potty) so he read that a few times, i made up silly rhymes about poo in the loo etc and talked about it loads, especially when changing nappies (poo in the loo etc etc). it took him a while to go from lots of little wees everywhere to being able to hold it in long enough to use the potty and he can now stop if he's starting to go and isn't on the potty, then runs to the potty to use it. took him a while to get used to sitting on a hard plastic potty, we've got a squishy toiet seat insert with a penguin face that he likes to use (cause of the penguin face).
i think it's still too early cause he refuses to use a potty or toilet when out but wears pants all the time at home so am quite happy to carry on as we are.

We haven't started training with my DS yet - he's only 20m - but we do have a potty for him to sit on while bath is running, just to get him used to the idea. The first one we had was a cheapie very basic one and he refused to sit on it. I think it was too small / not comfortable. I recently upgraded to the Baby Bjorn and he is much more into it. Talks about the loo all the time, and we read books on it etc etc. Maybe she's just not comfortable on the one you have?
