DD1 is 2.3, and recently has started showing a lot of interest in the potty - taking her own nappy off because she needs a wee, watching and pointing at her little friends when they are using their potties or following them to the loo! She even told me she wanted to do a poo in her potty and I told her to do it in her nappy

DD2 is only 5 weeks and BF a lot, and I'm on my own all day with the 2 of them, and the thought of trying to fit in potty training as well seems impossible - or should I just give it a go?! Would it be complete chaos? I'd happily leave it a few more months but don't want to discourage her if she's ready.

just thought I'd say my dd3 is 5 weeks also and started training dd2 on Monday. Also bf, and have dd1 home for holidays too. Am I mad,- I must be, Is it chaos - not really - not so far anyway. But then dd2 doesnt sit on the potty unless she really needs to go , which is about 3 times a day. I ask her to sit on it lots but she doesnt want to - but if she did I imagine it would be difficult up and down all the time. There have been a few times when baby has had to be whipped off the boob, dd put on the potty and baby stuck back on as we sit next to her on the floor!

Go for it, your dd sounds so ready so do it! If she was not showing interest and not wanting to sit on the potty i would say wait, but as she is take advantage of it. My dd 3.4 had to be forced out of nappies at 3.1 by myself, no interest, i just said enough is enough and put her in pants.

The fact that dd is interested should work in favour. I'd leave her bare bottomed at home, have the potty, loo roll and wet wipes for hand washing close by you when you are feeding baby, and let dd sit on the potty herself when she feels the need. That way you may not have to leave your seat as you feed! If you get more hits than misses in one day, it's worth persevering.

Put pampers disposable bed mats on sofas and chairs with a blanket or throw on top to save your upholstery, or cheap vinyl shower curtain with old towels and throw on top for the reuseable option. And a squirty carpet cleaner, or hard floor cleaner.

I was just about to post with the same question as I have a DD1 (2) showing a lot of interest in her potty and DD2 (8 weeks) never off my boob. I think peer pressure has finally got to DD1 and I would like her to be trained before she starts nursery in September.

Good tips on leaving her bare bottomed and using the disposable change mats. My biggest fear is for the sofa, particularly as DD1 is spending a fair amount of time sitting on it and watching cbeebies while I feed DD2

thanks for the tips, good idea on the disposable pampers mats. MIL is coming next weeks so maybe I'll be brave and try and do it while she's here!
