DD wees EVERY TIME she gets on the pram - how do I get the message across?

It's driving me to distraction. I have to wash it down more or less every day. If I could I'd let her walk everywhere but DD2 is only 5 months and I struggle to push the phil & teds with one hand and stop DD1 running off with the other (we live in central London so roads everywhere). I've tried bribery and it seems to have no effect whatsoever - what else can I do? She doesn't seem troubled by sitting wet on the pram either. At home she's pretty good and wees on the potty/loo 90% of the time (poos another matter...)

Any ideas? Please?!

how old is she? you have a few choices as far as I can see, and I'd probably try them in this order:

1. up the bribery. sparkly stickers, special sweets (only for not weeing on pushchair use), anything she would REALLY like, and get her involved in choosing her reward.

1. Put a towel on the seat and let her get on with it. Plan a short trip with NO CHANGE OF CLOTHES and keep the wet towel on the seat. Unpleasant yes but not harmful and if she complains let her know that she chose to wee on it, so now it's wet. Natural consequence.

1. Requires a bit of toughness, hence why I'd use it last. ?Take potty with you and refuse to let her sit on the seat unless she's had a wee. Make her walk no matte rhow tired/grouchy.

btw dd had terrible poo witholding problems so I feel you pain, but she always weed on the potty/toilet, and the poo sorted itself out later.

Could you have her on reins - perhaps one of those little life backpacks you see around - & tie them to the pushchair? I know exactly what you mean about needing to chase them down on London streets.

Thanks v much beesonmum - She's 2.7. Not been potty training for that long, only 2.5 weeks but the thing is she's so good at home I just don't know why she can't get the pram issue.

I did try with a towel initially but thought maybe she saw it as a green light so got rid of it but she carried on weeing anyway. Doesn't seem to be bothered by sitting on wet patch/in wet clothes (she was in a wet outfit on the way home today for a good 20-30 mins because we had to stop and go to the shops and didn't seem to mind at all).

I'm not sure the bribes are going to work either - she seems to lose interest

So I guess that leaves option 3. Thing is she kicks up a real fuss if I make her go on the potty when she doesn't 'need' to i.e. just in case and I don't want to put her off the whole thing. STill, need to so something so maybe I'll give it a go.

iskra thanks - it may come to that, I think it'd take us an age to get anywhere but maybe that's the price I have to pay for a dry pram that doesn't smell of wee!!

dd is 2.10 and whilst has been dry for 6 months, still will not wee on command, she has to wait until she is desperate

An unusual suggestion, but dd gets GREAT pleasure out of weeing in the bath/shower/grass and so eg at bedtime when she tells me i dont NEED a wee" I can "let" her wee in the shower and then wipe her with a wetwipe afterwards, at least that way she goes and doesn't wet the bed or wake up at god-knows-o-clock for a wee.

Perhaps worth a try if it doesn't make you shudder in horror like it does my friend .

Oh, and just to make me sound like a hideous parent, sparkly nailvarnish on the toenails works WONDERS as a bribe

How funny beeson! Might well try it out with DD though to be honest I haven't even thought about night-time training so not sure how it would work in the day e.g. at 9am in the morning? ("You can wee in the raised beds just as long as you do a wee before getting on the pram?!!") Nail varnish sounds like a pretty good alternative to anything sugar-related tbh!
