First time mum here just wondering how long it took to get your period back after a Section?
Also how long did it take for you to return to your pre pregnancy weight?

Are you breastfeeding? That can really delay your period coming back.

I'm 10 months pp (not a section, to be fair) and still no period. I'd say I'm largely back to my previous weight but my body is a different shape now!

2 years and 1 day for my period to return (breastfeeding). Not sure about weight as I don’t tend to weigh myself, but I was wearing pre-pregnancy clothes by the time I went back to work (12 months) although my stomach never looked the same again!

Probably around 4 months but I stopped BF after a month so that might have had an influence. I don't weigh myself but I am 2 years PP and my body doesn't look the same as PP to be honest. Be kind to yourself though, it's a major surgery!

That’s really bad luck.

And agree with the PPs, how you feed your baby is really relevant here @BowlOfSunshineas BFing can delay the return of AF, although obviously not on all cases Smile

Years ago now but I was shocked when my period returned 6 weeks after c section and fully bf, with my son it was within 4 months.

About 9 months, then pregnant again at 12 months (happy surprise!). I was also EBF.

mynameiscalypso · 24/07/2026 09:12

DS was FF and it was about 6 weeks I think. DS is nearly 7 and my periods have remained shorter and lighter since he was born compared to how they were before.

franksmama · 24/07/2026 09:17

About six months with EBF. I was about a stone lighter after I gave birth than I was before I got pregnant because I wasn’t well during my pregnancy, but I do have a lot of loose skin on my tummy and a C-section ‘pouch’ that I don’t think will ever go away. DS is now 19mo.

13 months, about a month after a dramatic drop in overnight feeding.

For me the body changes haven't been about weight but about shape - my arse disappeared - apparently this is a thing.

I had a dramatic weight loss in my son's first year due to his father being extremely ill in hospital - definitely below pre-pregnancy weight but I felt skinny fat - poor muscle tone
