I visited the GP and don't feel really satisfied with the response I got so would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.
Had my first baby in Dec 2023 and stopped breastfeeding in January 2025. My periods came back almost straight away. About a week before the actual period (normal heaviness and length for me) I start having spotting/blood in discharge/on wiping. I previously had a missed miscarriage and, in my successful pregnancy, a placenta previa, so this is emotionally really difficult. It looks like old blood though, almost black or dark brown and 'thready' if you know what I mean?
I'd also like to know what the issue is as this doesn't feel 'normal.' I was tested for BV, and came back clear so it's not that. I've not had any weird symptoms except much worse back pain around my period than I remember, but I also sometimes have to carry my toddler out of other people's gardens so...
My periods are coming around every 28 days, pretty regular. The 'other bleeding' usually starts around day 21/22. No smell, just the spotting.
Has anyone else had this? I'm finding it's really impacting my mood. The doctor is going to see if gyneocology want to refer me, but it's not a critical condition so, even if they do see me, it'll likely be months of waiting.
We would like to try for another baby but this is making me worry. The miscarriage was a natural conception but then, as we couldn't conceive again, the pregnancy that gave us our daughter was IVF.
Thanks for reading.
