Found a lump at 6 months postpartum

Sorry if this isn’t the right forum - I wasn’t sure where to put it!

I am coming up to 7 months postpartum with DC2 and, yesterday, found a lump in my right breast, near my armpit. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and thought it was maybe related to that but something told me to get it checked out. I saw my doctor today and he immediately felt two lumps. He thinks it is fibroadenoma, but has referred me for an ultrasound scan. They will call me to book to appointment in the next 2 weeks and my doctor said to contact him straightaway if they don’t have any appointments within 2 months (I live overseas and still getting used to things being a bit less straightforward than NHS!).

So now I’m just sat at home stewing and getting myself nervous about it being more sinister than fibroadenoma. Has anyone been through similar?

I didn't want to read and run, funnily enough I'm up with my nearly 7 months old DC2! This must have been a shock and I'd be scared too. But it's great news he thinks it's fibroadenoma.

It's easier said than done but try to take it one step at a time, when you're feeding try not to wonder about worst case scenario and focus on those suckles and cute feeding noises. The important thing is that you've done the right thing to get checked right away

Op, my wife had a lump checked out, similarly the dr also found more than she had and referred her under the 2 week wait (NHS). I’d just given birth to our second and wow it was stressful, she was scanned within days which made it feel worse but the result came back as fibroadenoma too. They said pregnancy and childbirth really brings them out, so fingers crossed that’s the case for you. Thinking of you and hope you get seen and reassured quickly 💐

I had this after I stopped BF DS1 - I found it a few months later. I was referred under the 2 week wait and it was fibroadenoma. Same thing happened to my friend - it’s quite common with pregnancy and BF I think.

Hi, try not to worry even though it's understandably anxiety inducing. I found a lump when I was pregnant a few months ago which turned out to be a fibroadenoma. They'll wait until I've finished breastfeeding before deciding whether to whip it out but it's not causing any harm. Apparently it's pretty common for them to develop due to pregnancy hormones. Wishing you all the best
