Bit of a random one… PP knee pain?

Hi everyone,

I’m 6 weeks postpartum and for the last couple of days I’ve had really bad knee pain but I’ve not done anything to cause it? I’m struggling to bend it fully! It’s the knee I had an ACL and meniscus repair on and I’m wondering if it could be related to muscle tightness or maybe something to do with my hips post childbirth? Maybe even hormones?

I’m just wondering if this is common or if anyone else randomly got knee pain?! I definitely haven’t done anything to cause the pain.

Thank you

Firstly, congratulations on your new arrival! I got bad knee pain in my right knee at around that time post-partum. I saw a physio a couple of times and did the exercises that they gave me (tried to do the exercises each day for 15mins or so, but it's definitely not easy to find the time when you have a newborn...). For me I think it was caused by my knees adjusting to the sudden loss of weight following birth, combined with all the bending down to change / bathe / pick up DS. It started to improve after a few weeks of doing the physio exercises and my knee is completely fine now! I hope it improves for you soon.

I've had horrible joint pain since having my 12 month old knees, hips, ankles. I'm just waiting for follow up blood tests as when I went to the GP about it 3 months ago turns out my thyroid might be knackered! See if it improves but if not it's worth getting your bloods done.

You can definitely have post partum thyroid issues so I would get that checked.

I had similar. Also had an ACL repair, to be honest I had severe pins & needles on extension and all sorts. 7m pp now and all seems to have resolved, fingers crossed same for you!

I had bad joint pain after both DC, happily it resolved itself.
