4mnths PP, CD21/28, pink discharge and cramps

I'll contact my GP on Monday but atm my anxiety is starting to creep up and I need to know if this could be "normal"

Baby was born 18th Dec. Very quick and was a "body ejection" birth were I did nothing as it was so quick for delivery. (labour time itself was a normal 5 or so hours)

3rd live baby, 4th birth.

FF and first period was 7th Feb so about 7wks PP. I have had three periods in total and all have followed a 28 day cycle.

Around ovulation time for all three I have had pain, bloating and gas with a little brown discharge. I had this after my 2nd and 3rd birth for about a year so I assumed it was normal.

This cycle however I have had a minimum dull low pelvic pain pretty much the whole time. I was treated for a UTI last week when I should have ovulated - the pain cleared for about 4 days. Yesterday I was out and about wearing my baby for quite a while (around shops, up slight hills and on short school run so also carrying bags and scooters etc) and my pelvic pain started again alongside low back pain. I got home and had some very very light pink discharge. Today I have sort of light cramps, loose bowels and a lot more pink discharge.
(my bowels are loose around my period but I don't usually get pink discharge, brown sometimes)

Could I have just overdone it yesterday with the walking and baby wearing? Could that start my period early, is this what it could be or have I just upset my body? Should I be concerned? Anyone else had this around 4months PP?

Yes sounds like you've overdone it. I got that heavy pelvis and leg pain when I overdid it with a prolapse so potentially something like that?

OnNaturesCourse · 25/04/2025 19:12

I do suspect a have a very minor prolapse - I get very heavy drag feeling when I'm on my period, or if I've been lifting my 4yr old too much ie he's been in the carrier/on my back all day. Again I had this with my other births and with exercises it cleared up after a year or so, I'm hoping this time is the same.

Would overdoing it cause the light cramps too

It does for me, also sort of waves of sensation (quite hard to describe!)

Yeh, I'm similar - like very early contractions that you keep going through. It's eased off now after I lay down for a few hours this afternoon. I think my issue is I forgot that 4m post partum is still pretty early days...

Just updating for my own records, and for anyone who finds this thread on searching (I so often find threads with no outcome really)

I'm on my 3rd day and have very very minimal deep brown discharge now, but have a very uncomfortable lower pelvic area and slightly achy low back.

I've prescribed myself a morning of bedrest and a hot water bottle.

My period is due in 6 days and it's no unusual for me to be a bit achy about now but current pelvic pain is definitely higher than normal.

Third night - lots more deep brown discharge tonight after barely any when resting this morning. Cramps have eased but my tummy feels tender like before a period. Brown discharge now looking like end of a period type stuff.

Calling GP on Monday if this continues.

Fourth night - had brown discharge but only on wiping, little redder so suspected period starting. Put in tampon but in 5 hours there was only a egg like brown discharge with a streak of red on it.

Fifth night - AF has entered the chat. After pretty much nothing all day aside a few drops of brown on pad. Had a looser than normal bowel movement this morning, and a bit of a upset tummy which is usual for me pre period. Everything eased by mid day and I thought nothing would happen / the brown was stopping. Now I feel like I'm in for the heaviest period of my life and that's really saying something! I'm achy down below and exhausted...and it's only been a few hours.

GP appointment scheduled as sure my hormones or something is out of sync. My hair is falling in out fistful clumps much more than normal post partum hair loss I think.

If I remember I'll update after GP etc.

Hopefully one day this thread will find someone who needs it!
