Can anyone help? I'm 11 weeks post csection and on my third infection. It's really starting to get me down as it just doesn't want to heal. I'm doing everything I should be in terms of keeping it clean, and have already had three courses of antibiotics prescribed. Is there anything else I can do? it seems the antibiotics arent aolving the issue, just helping temporarily and then it comes back soon aftwr the course is finished. Im starting to feel really rubbish about it and just want to be sorted 😕

Have you had the wound swabbed to see what bacteria are causing the infection? Keeping it really clean and dry, eg hairdryer on a low setting after shower to make sure all moisture removed and maybe tucking gauze in the little crease during the day to make sure it stays really dry are all things which might help.

Definitely hope that your healthcare providers are swabbing it. I had an infection about a week post c-section and it wasn’t until it was swabbed that I found out the standard antibiotics wouldn’t work and had to be put on specific ones. It may even be worth speaking to your GP/CMW (If still under care) about getting someone to do a scan to check for any abnormalities in the wound internally such as pockets of fluid. Some people just get quite unlucky with scar healings. Just keep making sure it’s dry, clean, underwear sits over the scar (avoid letting your knickers sit on your scar) and airing it at much as possible.

Hi op, I had this like 12 years ago. Agree with what pp said about swabbing. I was advised to see a practice nurse weekly who put on a dressing which helped a bit. They also gave me some plaster to put on home after shower. Wear really loose clothing that's not touching the wound.

I had to put gauze along my
scar and swap it out every few hours at most.

I had a massive infection within hours of the surgery, all surface level. My skin is just really sensitive and if something can go wrong it does. The doctor said keeping it dry would be key.
