Short light periods after baby

I had my son in April 2023 following an emergency C-section. My period returned exactly six months post-birth and is fairly regular at 26-28 days but it's different than before baby. It's been incredibly light, lasting only up to four days and mostly brown blood with only a bit of red. I thought the light flow was due to exclusively breastfeeding but my son weaned two months ago and was taking only one feed for weeks before that so I expected to see some change at that point. If anything, the flow is getting lighter.

I had a copper coil fitted in November 2023. Copper coils typically increase flow but it hasn't in this case.

We're hoping to TTC #2 soon but I'm worried the change in flow is a possible complication from the C-section that could affect fertility. I have a GP appt booked but just looking for anyone with similar experiences or positive stories of reassurance. I've had various issues since the birth of my son and nobody ever talks about what's normal so it's difficult to know if I'm worrying about something or nothing.

I had a vaginal birth and I have had the same experience - short, light and predictably regular periods when they returned 6 months after. I was also wondering why ... I suppose it could be a number of things, both hormonal or physical? Hasn't affected my fertility as I am pregnant with #2 after 2 months of trying. I hope it's the same for you. Xx
Wishing you the absolute best in TTC xx
