Knee pain since giving birth

I don’t know if it’s linked to pregnancy/birth but ever since I’ve had our baby my knees are agony - i absolutely dread getting out of bed, kneeling down or anything because they’re so painful! My baby is now 19 weeks old and I just feel they’re getting worse. The doctor said at my 8 week review they’ll ease but I don’t feel they are.

You need to see a physio pronto
Make a fuss to the GP, or go private if you can

Your knees are closely connected to your hips which are impacted by pregnancy and birth so it makes sense

Definitely see a physio. My GP was useless when I went with the same problem. As was the orthopaed he referred me to. Physio OTOH took one look at me walking barefoot across her room and recognised that my arches had collapsed. Massage, exercises and orthotics solved the problem completely.

The relaxin that your body secretes during pregnancy to allow your pelvis to move to accommodate the baby's passage also relaxes your other joints. Some of which may not tighten up again.

Thank you so much! Will get in touch with physio tomorrow!

Please get a doctor's appointment. I was pregnant nearly two decades ago. I still have knee pain. It is due to a tear in my meniscus. apparently it is a common cartilage injury of the knee and usually occurs when you twist your knee while bearing weight, such as during sports or when standing up.

Not saying it is that for you, but it is for me.

I have this also, my knees are so painful if I'm say for too long or if I've moved about too much.

Took me twice to see my GP and I've finally got physio next week.
