6 months post natal and feeling nauseous/ sick

Hi all,
I’m currently almost 6 months post natal after my first LO and I’m exclusively BF (looking to ease from this as we start to wean), throughout the last 6 months I’ve been feeling fatigued (I assumed this was normal after having our first baby), however I’ve had other symptoms come up that aren’t getting better these include:

  • Chills and shivering
  • Nausea and dry heaving and diarrhoea
  • Abdominal pain (recent)
  • Headaches left side
  • Feeling like I’m motion sick and that I’m swaying
I’ve done to my GP who has prescribed iron tablets but these don’t feel like they’re making a difference, has anyone else felt like this? Many Thanks in advance

Doesn't sound like anaemia to me, I'd go back to the GP!

Pregnancy?

but yes, go back to the gp.

Hi,
Thanks so much for your replies, will definitely check with the GP again. I’m just worried about being dismissed. When I last spoke to them as soon as I said I was BF the response was are you eating and drinking enough and I definitely am🙈
Getting tired of feeling like this and hoping it isn’t serious, I’m definitely not pregnant though it feels like first trimester again (fun times 😅)

Did they do any blood tests before giving you iron?

ShayaLight · 13/07/2024 19:38

They did some blood tests and I wasn’t anemic but my iron levels had dropped since pre pregnancy quite a bit so they put me on ferrous fumarate 210g, I don’t feel as though it’s helped with my symptoms but going to reach out to the GP to see if I can get a repeat test.

The GP mentioned the headaches sound like migraines which I didn’t have at all pre pregnancy. My period since having LO hasn’t yet returned so I’m wondering if it could be hormone related

Are you on contraception? I found contraception never really agreed with me after I had dd. Constantly felt ill, sick and no energy.

ShayaLight · 14/07/2024 15:07

Hey I’m not on contraception currently, the symptoms tend to come and go with some days ok followed by ones that are bad

Not on contraception but definitely not pregnant?

and you feel like you did in the first trimester?

ShayaLight · 14/07/2024 22:39

Hey sorry by not on contraception I meant not on the pill but definitely not pregnant, it actually feels worse than first trimester at times with the nausea and headaches but it definitely comes and goes. It started to get worse when I was around 4 months post natal.

Hey OP - did you get a resolution on this? I'm 7 months pp and feeling the same ☹️

@newbie12345678 I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling like this 😔 I know it’s the absolute worst
It all went away (I’m 10months pp now) and I’d say it gradually eased. I think it was hormone related as things started to settle back after a while. I’m still BF atm but my period came back a month ago and I’ve been feeling noticeably better after, I also think it could have been made worse by sleep deprivation.

I know the above might not be the most helpful but i 100% recommend speaking to your GP if you’re feeling worse as its no fun.

Wishing you all the best and sending positive vibes ☀️
