Hi everyone

I had my beautiful baby girl 12 weeks ago and we've had a very complicated journey so far with feeding, reflux , allergy symptoms etc. I've been a bit traumatised by everything and I'm struggling with my mental health. Our breastfeeding journey has been so up and down and now I'm at the point I think I need to stop as baby is getting distressed at the breast which just kills me inside. I desperately need closure, so I have asked to see mine and babies medical notes. I've had a response to say they are gathering the information from my GP and the hospital but there's been no mention of my health visitor.

Does anyone know if HVs write notes/records from their home visits? I know they write in the red book but it's so brief.

I think seeing those notes would give me some reassurance and closure.

I have no idea about the HV but I suppose they must keep some kind of records? I suppose you'd have to put in a request to your local HV service if you want to see them.

Before doing that though I'd ask to see your HV and tell her how you're feeling and ask for some support.

You can also get some support from the Pandas Foundation Flowers

Hi
Your HV is most likely employed by a different organisation and you can request the records directly via subject access request.
Hope you can move on and get the information that you need.
