Irregular periods 7months after giving birth

Hello, I'm looking for some advice from anyone that is able to. I had a baby 7 months ago and since then my periods have been pretty irregular, I have missed my last period is this normal? Before having my baby I always had my periods pretty on schedule and I never missed a period. I'm just worried particularly about missing my period (it's 7 weeks late). I'm not breastfeeding and never have. I just wondered if anyone else is experiencing anything similar

I was just about to post an almost identical post! I'm 8.5 months post partum, I was like clockwork pre pregnancy and also like clockwork between my two babies. My periods resumed at 2 months post partum despite me breastfeeding and were slightly extended but still fairly regular. I've totally stopped breastfeeding in the last month and so expected my cycles to go back to normal and yet they've completely stopped. Currently CD41, I've had zero signs of ovulation, no signs of an imminent period, all pregnancy tests are negative and I'm completely confused and terrified something is wrong!

I actually feel really reassured I'm not alone in this! I feel utterly terrified as well! This was my first baby and I do want another (not just yet) and in the back of my head all I can think of is will I be able to. My doctor referred for me for an ultrasound which I went to last week on Friday and I'm waiting the results for. I will let you know what comes back from it if anything. I don't even feel like my period is about to come it's so strange.

My period returned six weeks after I stopped breastfeeding my 13 month old, and I am now on CD40 with no sign of a second period, though it seems I have peaked for ovulation twice, so not really sure what is happening!

The worry about not being able to have another is playing on my mind too! I'd quite like a third one day but this has got me convinced that's never going to happen. Please do update with your ultrasound results. I've got some bloods booked for next week so I'll update with my results if anything comes back. I hope this is just one of those weird things for all of us and that we all go back to normal soon!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know my ultrasound came back normal but my blood tests showed I was anemic and that could have caused the irregular periods. I also started taking fertility tablets (not to get pregnant) but I read that these can help induce your period cycle naturally and since taking them I've been spotting. Might be worth giving it a go?

I'm glad you've found some potential solutions! My period actually arrived not long after I replied on here. I'm now CD17 of my next cycle and had a positive opk this morning which is still later than normal for me but much earlier than I must have ovulated last month. My bloods came back normal so no idea what's going on but hopefully just a weird post partum thing that will eventually level out!
