Baby sleeping on breast - then choking

Hey. I wondered if anyone else that has breasted/ is breastfeeding finds that their newborn falls asleep at the breast. It’s frustrating because

He ends up on the nipple and causing it to crack. Now I’m having such a hard time expressing.
Also he will accidentally such whilst asleep then choke slightly on the milk that I’m guessing has built up and he has swallowed.

The choking is alarming when it happens as I worry it’s milk down the wrong hole. HV says it’s normal and baby should be “drunk on breast milk” as an indication of a good feed.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t remember this with my first.

Hi
it’s normal for baby to fall asleep whilst feeding however I now gently unlatch my little one (9 weeks) when he does and he normally continues to sleep. I know this isn’t the recommended thing to do but works for me x

How is he if you do try to gently unlatch?

Are you getting any RL support, this can be important, especially of you have cracked nipples Flowers
