Dermoid cyst on ovary area

Has any had a Dermoid cyst on their ovary?
Should I be worried?
I've had polycystic ovaries in the past but the sonographer said this is different and not the same.
I went for a scan for a pain elsewhere and she found this Dermoid cyst on the other side 🤦🏽‍♀️
I had a baby 4 months ago and wondering if anyone else had this or could be related?
She said it's 8mm now and going back in 3 months for rescan for size and that they wouldn't worry unless at 5cm ...
She looked at my previous scans I had during my pregnancy and wasn't not there.
I'm too scared to Google gives me anxiety 🫣
Thanks in advance for any previous experience and comments x

Hi Op

I had a dermoid cyst removed from my ovary when I was 19. I didn’t have my first baby until age 34, so for me at least wasn’t related to pregnancy at all! Mine was 35mm when they removed it, but this was in 2008 and criteria may have changed now. The surgery was done via keyhole.

I have subsequently been diagnosed with endometriosis (in 2019 so again before having a baby), potentially some of my adhesions may be due to scar tissue from the cyst removal, though the link can’t be proven.

Dermoid cysts as far as I understand are benign, and generally don’t cause too many problems unless they cause your ovary to twist, which isn’t common but can happen. The fact it’s relatively small and being rescanned I think is hugely reassuring, they will let you know if it requires removal! I have health anxiety so understand the not wanting to google, but mine has never come back and the surgery went well :)
