Hi all

Just wondering did any other mums out there experience rapid weightloss after having a baby? I'm 6 months postnatal and I'm so anxious (getting help for it). I'm finding the weigh is falling off me I'm already pre baby weight and some less. I have bad health anxiety so that doesn't help and keep thinking I shouldn't be loosing this much weight. I'm already thinking before baby so hate it when people say "wow you've lost loads of weight". I know keeping baby weight on for most mums is normal and women would love those comments but I honestly hate it because I think they are thinking "she looks unwell and too thin".

If anyone has had anything similar please let me know. I have thyroid issues aswell (hypo was hyper after pregnancy) which is medicated and I know some thyroid issues caused weight loss but I can't reason with my brain. I'm also exclusively BF still.

Thank you 🙏🏼

My mums friend had a condition where she lost weight after having a baby without trying. Due to the thyroid issues I would definitely go to the dr about this and get some advice x

Now my mind is racing. I don't even want to ask what it was. I'm so scared. I've been to the GP and had bloods, chest X ray, MRI for throat as I felt a lump in my throat all came back clear thank god, except thyroid. I feel like I'm always at the GP. Thank you for the reply x

I meant except thyroid bloods which they are managing with meds.

@Cwtchybear I am so sorry that you’re going through this. I could have written every single part of your post myself a few years ago! I get mild postpartum anxiety which manifests as the kind of health anxiety you’re describing. I won’t describe my own experience in case it is upsetting, but I wonder if you could have a chat with your GP about a period of medication for anxiety. People talk so much about postpartum depression but there’s relatively little public discussion about its evil cousin, postpartum anxiety. I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you so much 🙏🏼 did you have thyroid issues too ? I really don't want to start meditation as I'm rubbish with meds anyway and I've tried CBT and spoke to the GP etc. I just want to know if any other mums lost weight quickly and more of a reassurance thing. Thank you for your kind reply ❤️ xx
