Feeling awful 9 months after birth

Hi all,

I'm not even sure where to start! So appoligies if I ramble.

I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago now, I became really poorly come the end of my preganacy, my BP was up and down, I was fainting everytime I stood up for longer that 10 minutes my iron was pretty low so they put it down to that in the end! Anyway, I was induced due to having a big baby (she wasn't 🤦‍♀️) but after birth I got a horrendous womb infection, that kept being missed by health care professionals, so this went on for 4 months before I felt silightly better. DD is now 9 months old, but I still feel pants! If I stand for to long I feel unwell and faint, I have aches and pains everywhere, and all round just exhausted! I have been to the GP about this, and they cannot find anything besides my CRP markers being raised! They do not feel concerned enough to follow this up. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Hi,

I actually came one here to pretty much write something super similar!!! My little one is 1year now and I still feel awful postpartum.
I had a traumatic birth which ended up in me being put to sleep for an emergency C-section and readmitted 2 weeks after with retained placenta and sepsis. Recovery was really rough, and I’ve never felt the same since- I’ve had awful heartburn, chest pains, palpitations, fatigue, internal tremors some nights and just generally feeling pants. I’ve ended up at the GP and A&E multiple times and after multiple tests nothing has been found.
Sorry to hear you’re feeling rubbish too, and I unfortunately don’t have an answer yet but wanted to say you aren’t alone. I find that hearing that other people have experienced the same
thing is oddly reassuring. Hope we start to feel normal soon, please done hesitate to ask any other questions you might have x

I must say I've never felt right since giving birth
I'm 17 months pp after a very traumatic birth and sure it's affected me

Thank you both so much for your reply, it's honestly exhausting. I've spoken to friends that have also had babies recently and no one seems to be in the same boat, so it's oddly reassuring to know I'm not alone. Xx

Are you eating and sleeping (ha) well?

danid26 · 08/01/2024 10:13

Generally I would say yes! We've got DD teething at the moment, so sleep isn't the best as to be expected, but before this i was one of the lucky ones and she would sleep right through. For me it seems to be when I'm doing something, aka walking to the shops or stood around for a long time the heart palpitations will start and I will feel faint and want to be sick, chest pains etc. Its so bizzare!
