Postpartum weight loss with a relatively small pregnancy gain?

I’m almost 35 weeks with baby number 2, have gestational diabetes this time around and since my diagnosis at 27 weeks and subsequent diet changes I’ve been losing a steady pound a week (I’ve mentioned this to my consultant and diabetic midwife and neither are concerned)
I’m now 10lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight which is at the bottom end of normal for my BMI. If things continue as they are I expect I’ll lose another pound or 2 before baby arrives.
I wonder how much weight I’ll lose immediately after having baby? If the baby is approx 7lb and then a couple of lbs worth of placenta, fluids etc I’m thinking I’ll be back to pre-pregnancy weight quite quickly? With my son I gained over 3 stone! And it took a long time to lose it, I’m terrified of being that weight ever again.

I didn't gain any weight until 28 weeks, then lost half a stone when ill with pre eclampsia in hospital, then was pretty much under my booking/pre pregnancy weight within a week. Eating lots of healthy fats, oils, nuts, avocados, good amounts of protein, full fat dairy products if you can will help to balance your weight.
