Fluid and debris in uterus 12 weeks postpartum

Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences/advice please. I have experienced retained products and haemorrhages after each pregnancy and experience prolonged bleeding each time. I am 12 weeks postpartum and am still having occasional spotting. I have had numerous ultrasounds - some saying everything has gone and others saying there is something still inside the uterus.

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday who noted ‘fluid and debris’ near the cervix. She said I might have another bleed and would refer me back to GP. I saw GP who has referred me to gynaecology.

I am feeling so tearful and anxious all the time and no one seems to know what to do for me. I get some cramping but feel well and the bleeding is very light. I am going on holiday next week and am terrified of having a big bleed when I am away. I’m also so scared of having a big bleed when alone with my children.

Thank you for reading - sorry it’s long

I can understand totally that you are worried.

Has the GP, or anyone else checked your iron levels? If not, I'd ask them as it sounds as though you could be at risk of Anaemia.

Is the referral to Gynaecology urgent?

And if you are worried about being alone with the DC and having a bleed, are you taking them on Holiday by yourself?
