Hi everyone
Had a baby last Wednesday... zero night sweats and feel like I want them to shed some water... feel so bloated and am retaining fluids like no tomorrow... will this start and also will I ever debloat? My face! Also no hormonal cries - am I not normal ? I had a C section that went super well...

I only had night sweats with DC1 and it was a summer heatwave so they could have easily been regular sweats 🤣 Nothing with winter born DC2. No hormonal tears either. Getting active will help with the bloat, obviously gentle walks not weightlifting, but resisting the urge to lay on the sofa (which you’re totally entitled to do if you want!) makes a big difference.

I'm 3 weeks PP tomorrow and the sweats only kicked in a week ago. And now they won't stop 🤪

I had no idea night sweats were a thing pre-menopause. Nothing here with either kid. Sorry.

Also ... zero bleeding post section... is this normal?

I've never heard of night sweats after childbirth. Añd crying isn't something I'd expect. Bleeding is a variable thing, it's quite normal to have little or none.

I’ve had 2 and after the first 24 hours, which was like a light period, basically nothing, only a bit of spotting. Apparently they give you a good hoover out inside (for want of a better term) so it’s quite normal 🤣 At least I knew for the second not to waste money on maternity pads!

Honestly thank you all so much. Will the bloating get better? You're all my agony aunts thanks insanely!

I don’t remember after having post natal night sweats and I have 3 children. Didn’t even know it was a thing. I never felt bloated either though.

FlounderingFruitcake · 10/04/2023 20:27

I found the bloating was from the IV drip and gas from being opened during the surgery. Drinking loads of peppermint tea, loads of water to flush everything through and walking around a lot helped and it didn’t last more than a couple of days. Unless you mean your uterus contracting? That will take a full 6 weeks to go down.

I actually think I might have an intolerance to nurofen... I've cut it out this evening and three hours on from when I was due to take it I feel better..
