C section incision - infection won't go away!

Hello,

I’m 6.5 weeks pp with DC2 (second c section, first was EMCS and this one was planned) and I have had an infection for weeks, I've had two courses of antibiotics and finished the last course a week ago. Thought it was getting better but pain has started again and incision is still open and weeping again.

Going to ring docs when they are open again tomorrow but, getting really fed up ☹️ Does anyone have any advice or tips?

Last time I went back to the doc for second course of antibiotics I said it wasn't getting better and asked if I needed to try a different type of antibiotic (she had me on flucloxacillin which I think is quite a general one for skin infections as, I used to take it for my folliculitis on my legs years ago) and she got a bit offended and said it wasn't the wrong antibiotic, I just needed another course.

TMI but, I also have a very strange snotty/jelly like discharge (I stopped bleeding weeks ago and everything has been normal down there since) and I am wondering if this is a more internal infection and requires a more aggressive antibiotic? Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience so, I can take the info to the GP with me and hopefully resolve once and for all!

Thanks x

I had quite a prolonged infection after mine, it only got better when the doctor took a swab of the gunk and I was given an antibiotic specific to that. Hopefully they can get you sorted soon, a bad infection and a new baby are not a good combination!

@Snowdropsarelovely thank you for the reply! I'll mention getting it swabbed tomorrow. I've seen a couple of people say that when googling and that's why I asked if I should be on a different antibiotic but, I think she thought I was questioning if she had made a mistake rather than suggesting trying an alternative!

Thanks again 😊
