When could you fit into your jeans and those who had a c-section when did the swelling around your scar go?

I stayed in my big post c section knickers for at least 6 weeks; with my first I was back in my jeans by 8ish weeks whereas my second was 4 months and I had to do weight watchers to lose the baby weight.

First child- next day.
Second child- about a week or two. BUT I had diastis recti which caused all sorts of bloody issues with my back. Make sure you work on your core once you've had a baby (and it's safe to of course!) otherwise it's a long slippery slope to slipped discs and pelvic floor issues.

I mean….I was wearing my maternity leggings for the first 4 months!! Anything tight around my tummy felt like torture even if it fit. I wouldn’t say it’s a weight issue per se it’s actually a comfort level.

I didn’t feel like I had any of my “old” body back until I hit 6 months and even then I’m still in the high wished knickers for comfort purposes.

1st child, c-section, a week or so and was back in my size 8 jeans, no swelling of scar.
2nd child, vbac, few weeks back into size 8 jeans.
(9yrs later) 3rd child, c-section, was never able to lose the baby weight and remained in a size bigger than usual (12-14) until I was pregnant again (also had horrific pelvis issues from SPD that meant i was very limited with my mobility for a long while after birth)
4th child, vba2c, within the year was back in a size 10.

Be kind to yourself. Every body is different, every birth and recovery is different.
As long as you are eating healthily and trying to do a little exercise, you will return to pre-pregnacy shape when your body is ready!

Only had one DC, but approximately 2 weeks. In fairness, he was back in hospital from 2 weeks old and I was provided with hospital meals because I was breastfeeding, but the portions were tiny and a lot more balanced than I'd probably have been eating at home! So it wasn't due to any effort on my part. Never really had swelling around my scar.

I have a 6.5 month old (first baby) and I had an elective section. I can fit into my old jeans but not comfortably really. I find that after wearing them all day, I get pain in my scar. I started off wearing my maternity leggings for the first 6 weeks. I then treated myself to some new jeans in the size up from my normal size. This is one of the best things I did as it meant I could feel more back to normal again, without being uncomfortable.

I really don't understand how people fit into their old clothes the following day/ straight away. My tummy was significantly swollen for a week or two afterwards (I looked like I was 20 weeks pregnant) and it still isn't flat now. I would say after 4-5 months it has started to look a lot better, but I definitely still have a "mum tum".

2 days**

After 2 sections I've got a pouch of fat that will not fit in jeans!

OneCup · 25/03/2023 10:29

Roughly six weeks. I must say I was breastfeeding and lost the weight easily without making any effort. It's a different story now!!

Muffintop23 · 25/03/2023 10:36

I still seem to have a pouch in that area that I don't think will ever go 😔

Phonemonkey2023 · 25/03/2023 10:38

I haven’t worn jeans since, my baby is 12 years old 😂

xSilverandcoldx · 25/03/2023 13:26

I had one by VB and one section. I was back in my jeans within a couple of weeks with both. But I made sure the waist band was way above my scar after the section. I never really had any swelling though it was more just so it didn't rub and get painful.

I had horrible sickness throughout both pregnancies though and I think this is why I never gained any extra weight.

PretzelBite · 25/03/2023 16:10

I was back to pre pregnancy weight after 4 weeks but my hips are so much wider now that I needed to size up jeans

Yesthatismychildsigh · 25/03/2023 16:16

First - prob would have been immediately, but wore them home next dat. Secon - a couple of days, third, about a week.
