Bleeding stop-starting 6 weeks after c-section, the pill and mucus plug

Hi all,
I am 6 weeks post ELCS.
Bleeding after the section was straightforward and stopped after a week or so. After 2 weeks, I went to the doctor with what I thought was thrush but they said the irritation was caused by a jelly mucus. When they looked, my mucus plug was still in place. They removed it and my bleeding started up again. Since then, it has stopped and started over and over. Sometimes it is dark red, other times brown or pink. I went back to the doctors last week, they did cervical swabs to check for infection but they came back clear so they said they aren't concerned and it's probably hormones. I started taking the pill at 3 weeks PP so I don't know if this is having an impact.
My bleeding is now red like a period and has been consistent for the past 5 days after it stopped last weekend again. I am due to have my withdrawal bleed from the pill this week - I'm thinking this might help clear everything out?
Has anyone experienced similar who can share their stories please or have any advice. I have no other signs of infection and feel well in myself. The scar is healing well and my bleeding doesn't smell infected. Thanks for reading.

I had this! I had an ELCS and the bleeding stopped after about a week and I felt so lucky! And then about a week after that, it just was constantly stopping and starting I was so fed up with it. And at my 6 week check, the gp said the pill would help clear it up and the pill actually made it worse! I also found a few threads on here saying the same regarding the pill. So it may be that, or could just still be your body settling down. My DD is 4.5 months and my previous cycle seemed to be the most normal it's been since having her.

@Girlmumma1 Thanks for your reply 😊that's interesting about the pill. I started my week's break from the pill at the weekend and had what was definitely period-type bleeding, fairly heavily, until today. As it stands at the minute, I've had no bleeding since early this morning, so fingers crossed it's helped in some way to move everything through! Will see what happens from here.
