Post natal hair loss

Any advice for dealing with postnatal hair loss? It comes out in clumps every time I wash it, brush it or even just run my fingers through it. I know it's normal but as a first time mum I'm quite startled by the amount that comes out

Me too, it's slowed down now my little is 8 month! I have no advice as it is shocking, it's a wonder I have any left, the amount I've lost! But I do, and it will thicken up again.... I hope!

I have this just now, it's horrible. I brush it over the sink a couple of times a day to try and contain it, but it's fighting a losing battle.

No advice but much sympathy!

I had this. Particularly around the front of my hairline. It stopped by the time baby was 6 months. But it took about 2.5 years to start growing back! Sorry op, no advice, just sympathy.

Oh OP I had the same, mine fell out terribly especially around the front, had 3 bald spots at one point, started when ds was around 3 months old and gradually slowed down around 8 months I think.
He's almost 2 and thankfully its grown back although I went through a phase where it was sticking up all over the place as it started growing Confused another great side effect no one tells you about!
I dont think there's a cure, however if you can stop blow drying and using heat tools, I found that helped slightly.

I knew about hair loss after baby but the amount is quite shocking. My DD is 15 weeks and it's just started so hopefully it'll settle down in a few weeks. As long as it grows back it'll be fine.

I’m going through this as the moment too. It’s started when my baby was 5 months and the amount that falls out is absolutely shocking, I’m really starting to worry about going bald as it’s noticeably thinner. It’s been over 2 months now and no sign of slowing down.

Mine was bad! Castor oil can help, just the plain from the pharmacy (just apply to your scalp) and lots of the hair growth serums actually do work now. Can be expensive but worth it.

I had the same, but up until either 6 or 9 months (I can barely remember now, but it was at the start of the first lockdown).

Mine fell out loads - I think it was worst 3-6 months after the birth. I’m at almost 11 months now and have loads of annoying bits sticking up at the front where it’s growing back. At least it is growing back, I suppose.
