Bleeding 4months post-partum (C-Section) - missed infection?

Hello,

(I posted this on the pregnancy thread but realised this section may be more appropriate).

Wonder if any mums can advise me on an issue I'm having.
I had an emergency C-section that led to delivery of DC1. Cause of GP appointment backlogs I wasn't able to have my postpartum check until 12weeks.

In my appointment I let GP know I had symptoms of a UTI, pain and difficulty urinating (I was barely peeing once a day) - I thought perhaps I needed to up my water intake but that didn't help.

The GP at the time advised the urine stick test indicated I didn't have a UTI and pretty much dismissed all the other symptoms I had, like abdominal pain/cramping and bleeding. But she gave antibiotics anyway which helped the urinating issues but not the bleeding.

Few weeks ago I went to another GP appointment, Doctor was shocked I hadn't had bloods tested following C-section, or any abdominal & vaginal inspection. Apparently my cervix appeared irritated upon inspection and doctor advised she didn't think I had started my periods again, so she ordered a swab test and bloods which apparently have come back clear.

So I just wanted to check if anyone has had a similar experience of still bleeding months after c-section? I'm worried I may have a missed infection

Any chance that it's your period? Sorry I don't have much else to offer!

Sorry Judy reread and see your doc ruled that out!

Just not Judy!

At first I thought it might be a period but it's been weeks, whereas a period should only be a few days.

Hi,

I've had issues with on/off bleeding after my planned c-section.

I stopped bleeding about 5 days post op and thought I was very lucky! But since then I've been bleeding on and off. And around 5 weeks post partum I had quite a heavy bleed that GP said was my period starting and prescribed me the mini pill. ( I was on this for around 10 years pre-baby with no periods). But this seemed to aggravate it more so I stopped taking it, but I've noticed I bleed after sex or if I go running! 😭

Other times I'll be fine for a couple of days and then randomly start bleeding again. I saw GP Thursday when DD had her jabs and she said "oh it takes about 4-5 months for your body to settle down" and offered me the combined pill. But I've decided to let my body try to sort itself out on its own until the new year. But I'm now really paranoid about the post sex/post exercise bleeding!

Let me know if you get any answers!

Hi hun,

I know this is an old post but did you find out what was wrong?

I've been bleeding since my c section 15 weeks ago and I had a scan that showed I have fluid under or near my c section scar. I got to have an mri done soon and surgery

Momye · 15/01/2024 19:44

Hi lola...have you had any luck with the bleeding. Its 6½ months for me with bleeding just little..had scans with no issues in my womb or the scar. Dr says its hormonal imbalance which have not been given meds for fear of my breast milk cutting off. Also developed pressure a week after c section,so dealing with two things. Any natural remedies?

Hi Momye,

Thank you for replying.

In the end I bleed everyday for 5 months was seen in gynaecology and vascular clinic where they thought I had an avm of the uterus but turned out nothing is wrong and 'was just my body'. It stopped when my consultant gave me medicine to stop the bleeding. I had an ultrasound done, mri and ct. But didn't find any natural medicines.
