PGP after baby - anyone?

Hello,

I posted in chat a few days ago having slipped discs and muscle spasms in my back but now I seem to have developed excruciating pelvic girdle pain. My LO is nearly 4 months and I didn't have it in pregnancy bar a slightly achy lower back... it was the top of my back that was an issue. He was quite a big baby.

Had anyone experienced this post-natally? What did you do to fix it. I can barely hobble and need crutches for steps and stairs.

I had an MRI Friday but they just did the top of my back. Seeing physio again Thursday...

Thank you so much.

I had it during my first pregnancy and then it carried on until my son was about 2. It was agony, I was taking paracetamol daily and I couldn't do anything. Because of lockdowns etc I didn't make it to a physio but I went to see one at the start of this year, she gave me some exercises to do and within a couple of days I was completely pain free. She showed me how I was walking and moving to try and protect my hip which was putting strain everywhere else. The longer you leave it the more you body compensates which then makes it worse! So highly recommend getting to see a physio who has experience with antenatal/postnatal stuff. There are still certain things I can't do (lateral movements will hurt the next day) but I am currently 22 weeks with my second and haven't had a twinge! Fingers crossed you get better soon xx

Ps I should have said that physio told me the hormones which can lead to things like PGP can actually linger for quite a while after birth. So unfortunately it isn't a case of baby arriving and it disappearing!

Thanks so much @Walkingdeadobsessed I'll look up the exercises ahead of physio... I guess you can find them on YouTube? I just missed my footing in the garden despite crutches and such an excruciating pain in my left hand pelvis 😖 I just don't get how it's suddenly come on like this from slipped discs 😞
