2nd degree tear, muscle isn’t healing

I gave birth to my son nearly 10 weeks ago and had one continuous long stitch. The muscle defiantly doesn’t feel healed, has anyone else had this?

Hand hold, I had my baby 3 weeks ago with a second degree tear, I got an infection and as a result my stitches dissolved. I have been told to sit with my legs shut so my perineum heals, I was told recovery will take 6 weeks but I'm 3 weeks in and still looks as it did 2 weeks ago :(

What makes you think it hasn’t healed?

I could tell muscles were weaker, they’d hurt if I tried to sit down or stand up in a certain way.

Has the Tear closed up? I remember looking about 2 weeks PP and thinking it looked like I had an extra hole 🙈

Sex was painful for me for about 6 months afterwards.

I’m 8 months PP now and on the whole it’s all much better. It looks almost the same as before, I sometimes think my groin muscles as a whole are weaker but nothing specific to the tear.

Has anyone checked you? The midwife and health visitor never offered to check my stitches were healing and just said to do squeezes to help the muscles (don’t feel it really did) I took ages to heal and go back to normal though, I think it was around 13/14 weeks. Go and get checked out and say you don’t feel right

Did you get it checked at the six week check? Mine was still sore by then (I had 2 2nd degree tears and an episiotomy) but not as bad as it had been. It took absolutely ages (months) to get more function back in terms of going to the loo though.

My stitches did get checked but only 10 days after he was born and then a week after that, the last time she checked them she did say they were healing nicely, I didn’t get them checked as my “8 week check” was over the phone, i mentioned I had stitches done and she didn’t really seem bothered about me going in to get them checked. I have had a look in the mirror and everything looks normal and fine but I don’t think it’s healed as whenever I go for a wee it feels VERY tender, I don’t know if you use that muscle to push to wee? I am just worried it’s never going to heal! Also the past 2 periods I have had seem to make it more tender. The thought of trying sex makes me shiver as I know it will be painful :(
