Major pelvic/upper buttock/leg pain

Post Labour I have major pain in pelvic/upper buttock/leg. Immediately after birth it was difficult finding my balance when getting up and I cannot sleep without pillow between legs since too (year and a half). Left upper leg is most painful possible because when pregnant we're advised to sleep on that side. Have often wondered if it could be trapped nerve...left leg and foot constantly feel restless and sitting is uncomfortable especially along upper buttock. I cannot sleep on back because of this and even when getting massage moving from back to front takes a while as it's extremely painful....

Any other mummas experienced this? It's putting me off having another baby as not sure I could cope with this pain in the process....

Also, during Labour I was told to push baby out as it was taking a while...so did with all my might without a contraction (in between) if that means anything....

Sorry to hear that - first thoughts were either bursitis or sciatica - but I would go back to doctor & get a proper diagnosis - don't suffer in silence when you have a painful condition and a baby to look after. All best to you

Thanks! Would I ask for a scam of some sort?

Sounds a bit like sciatica, have you been to physio or osteopath or anything since the birth?

complexsimplicity · 01/01/2022 17:06

Thanks. Not yet, am on waiting list for physio

Could you book physio or osteopath privately? Have you been on waiting list since the birth? I deal with this stuff in the months just after the birth, getting everything realigned and problems worked out, no point suffering on for 1.5 years if you can avoid it.

Just to update on this, went private for physio and it worked a treat!
Seems to have somewhat transitioned to lower-back but nowhere near as bad it was....

Now seems like trapped nerve, stiff lower back/upper buttock...
Am due for a new physio session soon...

Still a very numb upper buttock / lower back after numerous physio session. Sharp pain in that area if move into unfavourable position/way, from back to side when sleeping even if when stretch left leg when walking, back bend (even slightly). Feels like dead weight if slept on it for long period...

Just putting it out there to see if any thoughts, as had good advice here in the past.

If physio has helped but not solved it, I would try an osteopath next. Your body has lived with the pain for a long time and will have adjusted and adapted to minimise the pain, so you may need some adjustments to put things back where they should be.

Have you seen an osteopath? What did the physio actually say? If it’s numb the nerve is probably compressed or damaged.

I recommend an osteo too. I had terrible pelvic pain and she sorted it in 3 sessions. Basically all my accessory muscles had overactivated to compensate for the pelvis problem and everything was super tight and painful

Seen an osteo and with no such luck. I have a feeling it's an alignment issue resulting from childbirth and potentially damaged nerve. My hips just don't feel right...
