Breast milk has come In

Hi all

I gave birth 14/11 and today my breast milk arrived. However my boobs are rock solid and so painful, and baby doesn't want to take to them because of how solid they are. They have pretty much doubled in size over night. Feel like they are on fire - any tips for relief??

Thank you in advance

Chilled cabbage leaves and express a bit before trying to latch on.

A few tips...a hot shower, cold compress or (even better) cabbage leaves. Hand expressing a little milk to relieve the pressure can also help (videos online will show you the technique). Best of all is to feed, feed and feed again. Try to avoid pumping at this stage as it can lead to an oversupply issue further down the line. Paracetamol is also perfectly safe to take if you need to. Well done

Mine where the same when my milk came in I handed baby to DH and jumped in a really hot shower and expressed some off in the shower. They did settle down after a couple of days.

Google 'reverse pressure softening'. It helps to take the edge off so baby is able to latch more easily. Good luck! This will only last a day or two. Well done mama!

I had gel pads that could be heated or cooled that helped, a bit like these!
