Lump appeared on baby's head at 2 weeks old?!

Hi! Wondering if any of you could share some light or advice. My baby girl is 2 weeks old today and has developed a lump on her head today?
It's soft to touch and doesn't move around, situated where her crown is.

She had a ventouse delivery and did have a small red ring around her head for first few days but that disappeared pretty quickly.

Just wondering if this is a normal thing or if I should get it checked out? When searching online it comes up with 'Caput succedaneum'??

Thanks! :)

Hi, just be sure it's not a raised/bulging fontanelle?
This would be a sign of swelling in the brain and an emergency. I'm sure you know that anyways but felt like I should mention it just in case.

It sounds like fontanelle. Google it to have a look, then come back to us.

@lilyms hey OP any update?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. We went up to the hospital and they have said it's Cephalohematoma from where she was a ventouse delivery! Swelling should go back down in a couple of weeks Smile

Hey @lilyms that’s good to know. I’m in the same boat with my little guy. He’s 7 weeks old. Did they explain why it came so late? Usually it’s right after birth and then goes away.

Thanks for the update Smile
