How long until it feels normal after episiotomy and 3B tear

Hello, I'm 3 months pp, had an awfully traumatic birth- forceps, episiotomy and 3B tear, took 11 weeks for everything to heal.
We haven't had sex yet, having a feel down there some of the scaring feels hard and I keep getting a pulling sensation that hurts if I kneel down in a certain way etc. Things don't look swollen but I have no idea how we will have sex again as it sort of feels a bit tight down there. My husband is also quite well endowed! 😳
Does anyone have any experience of this type of thing, how long was it till things felt more normal?! Did you have any problems? It's worrying me! Thanks!

Anyone? Or with similar experience?!

OP this may not be much use as I'm a bit hazy on the details- I had a very similar experience but my son is a teen now and I can't remember how long it took before I felt back to normal. I do think it was under 12 weeks, though. I was pregnant by the time my son was 11 months so must have been relatively back to normal by then! I'd say if it still feels weird it might be worth going to the GP (assuming you can at the moment).

I remember feeling a hard lump in the area which turned out to be the knot in my stitches, but that disappeared after a few weeks.

Hope you feel better soon and congrats on your baby Flowers

Didn't want to read and run but I don't really have lthe same experience - I had a 2D tear and a partial prolapse. I did worry but it did just work fine for sex - it's like the whole hormonal thing just lubricates the situation and you become relaxed and it's fine. It's maybe worth setting your goal as "having sexual pleasure and connection' rather than having sex per se. You'll work it out between you if you take a low pressure, pleasure based approach. If you try and you're really up for it and enjoying it but it doesn't work out, consider getting a professional opinion? I reckon you have a good chance of being absolutely fine though

I had exactly that. It's very early days for you. I was in pain and had problems for 6 months but was fine by the time I went back to work when she was 6 months old. That was 24 years ago. It will get better.

I had a third degree tear with DD, I think it was around 3/4 months to begin to feel normal again. We had sex around 11 weeks and it was uncomfortable but not painful we just took it slowly and went from there.
Did you have a follow up with a physiotherapist? I was referred for a check up at 12 weeks to make sure everything was healing correctly down there and my pelvic floor muscles were getting back to normal. They carried out an internal scan of the muscles to see how the scar was.

Thanks for the replies, I've had 3 phone appointments with the women's health physio (due to COVID) but have another one next week and will ask for a face to face and an examination. I'm hoping all is still just settling down!

I was in the exact same situation. Didn't have sex for over a year, didn't use tampons for 2 years. At about the 3 year mark I felt back to normal. Certainly don't look it but feel it.
