Does your tummy take longer to go down after a c section?

I'm 4 weeks postpartum today after a c section, I'm wondering whether my stomach is still swollen or if it's fat 🥴 it seems to still be going down abit every day, does it take longer than a VB?

From what I recall, there seemed to be lots of fluid retention above the scar. Have you been given some physio exercises? I was very diligent with these (I was a bit postnatally bonkers, and focussing on these helped). I did physically recover really well, though.

Be kind to yourself, you’ve just produced another human.

It's 6 weeks regardless for your uterus to return to normal size.

Found this online: 'weight after a c-section delivery might be a bit harder than if you had a vaginal delivery. The reason is that it will take longer to heal and recover from surgery than from an uncomplicated vaginal birth.'

4 weeks postpartum is soooo early op, go easy on yourself. You have so much time to focus on getting back to normal; enjoy this precious time..

Mine did take a while, yes, it was so swollen and distended and covered in bruises. So attractive! It does go down eventually, don’t worry Cake

I meant to give you Flowers but I’m sure cake would be welcome too!

If you’re in any pain or worried that your uterus has not shrunk back properly, then speak to the midwives (who should just about see you 4 weeks pp)

I’m almost 5 weeks postpartum and still v swollen: I look like I have a tyre around my middle!

Mine went down within a few weeks, as did another friends. Equally I have two other friends that are still struggling months on. Everyone is different. As long as your scar is healing and you're not in pain, then just relax. Don't do what I did and eat 7 biscuits for breakfast everyday 😬

I think it does take longer and first time I had an infection at week 6. Seemed to take months to heal properly and about a year before it was no longer sore.

I've had 2 emcs and even though I'm a size 8, it's never gone completely flat at the scar, it's like an indentation which makes it look a bit like a pouch which I HATE. However it's below my pant line so you don't see it when I wear a bikini etc but I know it's there 😟 I have seen pics though of some folk having completely flat tummy with the scar so maybe I've been unlucky 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have an oedema tummy swelling, I had an infection there too. I also have postnatal bleeding and a big boil/blister on my thigh. The c section stitches still bleed a little. I take clexane anti-clotting injections. I have re-occurring chest pains post-surgery, I have been in hospital again and again. Why do I have these re-occurring chest pains? Is this common after c section? Do you think it's anxiety? Or is my clexane anti blood clot injections on a low dose 40mg? Do I need a higher dose?

Hi. I had a csection with first baby and VB 5 weeks ago with baby2. My CS tummy took alot longer. It's major surgery so things take time to heal. Congrats on your baby

OMG just realised this is well over a year oldHmm

Do you mind me asking how old you were? I’m wondering if age has any relation. Thanks
