Lochia smell? Urine leakage?

Hi everyone. This is so embarrassing to talk about but I'm sure I'm not the only one suffering.

I want to ask what lochia smells like? I'm almost 5 weeks PP and for the past week or so I've noticed a sort of ammonia smell down there, sometimes slightly fishy and I can't tell if its incontinence or the lochia discharge. The discharge is clear/yellow now with a few bits of pink spotting. I'm using scented daily liners because it is so light but now I'm thinking it could be the scent of them?

I'm still sore sometimes with a bruising/aching feeling all across 'down there' and I have a small lump (swelling) in the opening of my vagina. It's not painful to touch but after I've touch it he aching sensation gets worse?

Sounds like an infection. Which HCP are you currently under? Your GP or the maternity unit?

Definitely make sure you get checked out at your doctors for that, could be an infection.

I had the same both pregnancies for a few weeks after lochia ended. Stopped on its own and back to normal discharge. Worth seeing your GP if other signs of infection or you’re worried.

Hi, yes went to GP yesterday. The lump is scar tissue from the tear and they took a swab. Everything else was fine.

Worth checking for BV if the smell is still there, I got this after the bleeding ended after my second birth. It wasn’t pleasant. I treated it myself though with something from the chemist, I think they were some kind of pessaries. It worked anyway and the smell went away.
