Postpartum spotting in between periods

Hi all,

I am 17 weeks postpartum with my second baby. She was born in theatre, after turning at the last moment, with forceps. Very nearly an emergency section.

Anyway.... my period didn’t return until 12 weeks postpartum (it was a very light period compared to my first period PP with my son two years ago). However, I had a bit of spotting between that period and the one I just had (much more heavy and painful this time) and now I’m seeing blood again when I wipe. The blood seems fresh combined with clear discharge - sorry TMI.

Anyone else? Not sure if I should phone the doc or it’s just everything settling down and getting back to normal.

I’m not taking hormonal contraceptives or having sex yet. It still feels too soon as I had soooo many stitches down there!

Any advice appreciated.

It turns out I had ovulation bleeding. It would happen mid cycle every month. It sometimes happens, sometimes doesn’t. Had tests to rule out anything else too.
