Gynae appt 9 months after birth

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows why I've been given a gynae appt 9 months after giving birth. Bit of background:- I gave birth just over 8 months ago, I had bleeding in my 3rd trimester but they couldn't find a cause, at birth I had a 3rd degree tear which required surgery, I was referred to physio which was by phone, I had my gp check at 8 weeks but I've never had any appt from the hosp until now. My hospital trust are doing as much as they can by phone (as I'm sure most are in these times) but this appt is in person.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be for? Did people have any hosp appts after giving birth? I can ring to ask tomorrow but obviously theyre closed now.

Hi OP, I had a third degree tear also and was asked to come back for a hospital appointment but that was about 6weeks after, not 9 months. The reason they gave me was to check my pelvic floor. This is not in the UK though so might be different. Sorry that's not much help...

Thanks. How did they check your pelvic floor? Just by asking? How long were you in pain for can I ask? I'm still a little sore tbh especially during intimacy

The doctor inserted a speculum and asked me to bear down (like taking a poo). He even showed me in a hand mirror (weird) that neither the bladder nor the rectum were pressing into the vaginal walls.

I was in awful pain for a good 4 months, stabbing pain in my vagina and rectum. Still have chronic thrush which I can't get rid off so not DTD at the moment at all...
