Weird discharge 11 weeks postpartum - pic included

Hi everyone,

I've had the weirdest discharge now for a couple of weeks, I was 11 weeks postpartum on Wednesday. I'd say it's yellow brownish - pic included, sorry if tmi,but I'm at my wits end.

I did a home test for vaginal infection and it came back as positive. I then went to my GP and they did a test and it came back as negative.

Does anyone know what this? It kind of pulls me down emotionally as I have to wear a pad every day. :(

It does smell, but it isn't really an offensive smell. Perhaps slightly sour.

I'm so confused also why my home test would show positive and the doctors test negative.

Does anyone have experience/advice?

Thanks so much in advance xx

I have the same too! It's the 10th week after I gave birth to my first baby. I have to wear a pad every day because it has this unusual smell but not the "fishy" smell. Can somebody tell us what this is? Thank you in advance

Hi @Shanshan23, sorry that you're also going through this and thank you for commenting on my old thread.

Just to let you know after a long ordeal of going back and forth to every doctor and even paying privately this has been resolved.

I had numerous vaginal swabs done, one showed Staphylococcus, received antibiotics against that. Yellow discharge still remained.

Another swab after that showed bacterial vaginosis and the doctor prescribed me metronidazole against that. Still had yellow discharge after finishing the course of antibiotics.

I was totally at my wit's end and then in a last attempt to solve it, I bought Balance Active pessaries from Boots that promise to help to restore your natural ph balance.

It rapidly improved my symptoms, the discharge was gone after the first pessary.

I'm not sure why none of the antibiotics helped and why the discharge remained. I put it down to having a very rough birth ( forceps delivery with 2.1 litre blood loss, severely iron deficient) and my body being very weak. I also read that antibiotics can further disturb your vaginal balance and maybe this also contributed to my many vaginal infections after birth.

I would really recommend to you using Balance Active Pessaries from Boots as they helped me so much.

Here's the link to the product: www.boots.com/balance-activ-bv-vaginal-pessaries-10154129

I hope it all gets better for you and congratulations on your baby.

Hi there I’m experiencing the exam same thing 11 weeks postpartum now.
did you end up finding out what it was. I am going to the gp tomorrow to discuss this

Kellym25 · 19/11/2023 17:44

Hi, I am 6 weeks post birth today and for the last 3 weeks I've had this. I've got my 6 weeks check with the gp in a few days so I'll talk to them but I too wondered if it's normal? I'm getting sore down there from having to wear a pad every day.
