So my newborn is 8 days olds. He literally will not sleep at night, his fine in the day. To me it looks like he gets really bad stomach ache at night as he always pulls his legs up and crying. He hasn't done a poop for last couple of days which I'm sure is making him so uncomfortable. Should I consider changing his milk? He is bottle fed. We have just changed from the instant milk to the powder, could this of upset his stomach? Any help appreciated

Sounds very normal unfortunately! It takes a while for their digestive system to get used to have to work properly and they don’t always like it.

Make sure you wind him during a feed, not just at the end. It should help.

Also look at paced feeding - it’s a much more natural way to bottle feed, baby controls the intake and so doesn't guzzle milk and give themselves a stomach ache.

Most newborns get day and night mixed up, I found Dd was starting to sleep much better from about 4 weeks.

@sophie269 I think I've read that using the powder can introduce more air as you have to shake it to mix the formula and water so you end up with bubbles. The instant stuff is pre mixed so no bubbles. We combi feed our DD and switched to instant for a while and it seemed to help
