Lighter periods after birth?

Had my first baby 7 weeks ago now and last week, so 6 weeks after birth, my period returned. Everything I'd read was about crazy heavy periods after pregnancy so I was prepared for a horror show! Yet this has been lighter than my pre-pregnancy periods?! For context previous periods weren't heavy in the way some people struggle with flooding etc but on the worst two days it was a super plus tampon situation. This week at the worst point a regular tampon was fine. Now obviously I'm not complaining about this! Just wondered if anyone else experienced similar? Could it be possible that I'm going to be blessed with lighter periods from now on? Or is my body tricking me and I'm in for a hell of a shock next month?!

Are you breastfeeding? If so I’ve found either that or combi does mean lighter periods

No, I'm formula feeding but had heard that about breast feeding

I’ve had two kids and after the first my periods have always been much lighter, shorter (2 days instead of 5+) and not painful at all. Also no PMS or pain before so every period is a surprise! A happy side effect of kids 😊

Mine were lighter for about 18 months then started a pattern where every 3 months I'd have a mega heavy one but very light rest of time. Been like that for 7 years now...

My first period was completely normal. My second period was the period from hell. Everyone is different though so fingers crossed!

Baby is 6 months old now and they have settled, no lighter or heavier than before but they are slightly different.

I'm experiencing this! Did you have any trouble conceiving with #2?
I'm kind of afraid that they're so light because I'm still breastfeeding, but I don't really want to wean before getting pregnant...
