Episiotomy and 2nd degree tear advice

Hi, I had my baby boy just over 5 weeks ago and I just wanted some advice on anyone whose had an episiotomy and 2nd degree tear. I had a forceps birth with both the above and also suffered with haemorrhoids. Questions I have are...

  1. How long did it take for your episiotomy to fully heal?
  2. When did it feel comfortable to have sex again (I'm not there yet) and quite scared to!
  3. Did anyone feel the way you have been stitched was not quite right. I keep looking at it and its healing well but it's on one side and obviously the end is at the opening to my vagina and I feel they havent stitched far enough up. So it looks my vagina entrance is bigger than it was before. I hope that makes sense!

Any advice welcome!

Also I've had 3 UTI's since the birth and thrush due to all the antibiotics!

I dont know if something is wrong or it will eventually all calm down!

I had a an episiotomy and ventouse. It took my 8 weeks to stop feeling tender, and I was convinced my stitches were infected or not right so I got a midwife to check them. Sex wise, I think we DTD at about 12 weeks post birth. My DH was very understanding but I did do it before I felt 100% ready and it was a bit sore for a while but not as bad as I expected. I would recommend sitting in shallow baths with tea tree and lavender oil, or Epsom salts, to help healing, and keep the stitches really dry. I used to dry mine with a hairdryer after a shower 😆 sometimes it just takes people longer to heal. I am not a fast healer in general.

You need to do what's right for you. Everyone will heal differently.
I had episiotomy and 3rd degree tear and barely noticed tbh. I thought I was ready for sex at 6 weeks but it was too sore so I waited until 8weeks.
You can't base your healing on anyone else. Speak to your midwife who should have checked your stitches anyway.
Hope you feel better soon.
