Is it normal for periods to be THIS heavy after birth?!

I've had two periods since my c section and they've been insanely heavy. I have used a mooncup for 8 years and always empty it first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and can forget about it in between. But now I have to empty it every 2-3 hours or it overflows Blush
All my bed sheets are ruined because otherwise I'd be setting alarms in the night to change it. That's despite me wearing a pad AS WELL. I knew my periods would probably change but I'm not sure this level of heaviness is normal. As stated, I had a c section so it wouldn't be due to anything stretching. It actually does get completely full. Does anyone else bleed that much (esp those who use a cup?)

I didn't bleed very heavily at all after I gave birth but that's normal for me. If it's an abnormal amount of bleeding for you then you should follow it up. Not sure if you're outside the remit of triage now but it's worth ringing them/GP to get a second opinion

I had a c-section and i am on period 3 after baby. I breastfed so periods didnt return until 9 months post partum. My period is unbelievably heavy and i get awful pmt too - it's like being 15 again without the perky boobs! I don't use the moon cup, Although I have to change pads more often than I used to.
Speak to your gp though if you are worried, I'm just some randomer off the internet! Grin

I had a c section in December, the first two periods after were very heavy, especially the first one, it was horrendous, flooding, I was soaked through constantly, had never experienced any that bad. Dr said that the first period after a section can be very heavy. They're back to their usual flow now

I’m suffering from the same and have wondered if it’s related to the c section. I had a natural birth with my first and didn’t have this issue. Now it’s just awful! I really Feel bad for not empathising more when friends mentioned heavy periods, I didn’t have a clue how hard it is.

My period returned in Oct last year (9months pp) and I think that the last one was a bit lighter...im Hoping that it will just balance out over time and hormones regulating. I did some reflexology last week which I’m hoping might help.

Let’s pray it improves because it’s very annoying !
