Tender stomach muscles 22m postpartum?

I gave birth almost two years ago but my abdominal muscles just don't seem 'right' if I press on my stomach with my fingers it almost feels like I'm hitting a nerve. It's instantly very painful and makes me feel queasy. I had quite bad distasis recti - It started at about 4cm and I’ve closed it down to 2cm through gentle exercise.

I feel like I have pretty much no core strength anymore and suffer from a bad back constantly. Before becoming pregnant I had a flat and tones stomach, now my abdomen is very round and bulbous.

Maybe my muscles tore and haven’t healed properly? I don't know. I’m finding it hard to find out if that’s even a thing and the first time I went to the doctor he was useless 😞

Has anyone suffered anything similar? I want to be armed with possibly more info for the next time I see the doctor.

Thanks for making it this far!!

I'm only 4 months pp -not exactly your case but I didn't want to read and leave!-.

My separation is only of 1 cm but I have weak abs and back pain. My transverse abdominal muscle has not recovered completely -which might also be your problem-. My obgyn gave me a referral for a physiotherapist.

Have you done hypopressive ab exercises?

If I were you, I would ask your GP for a referral, and if they don't give it to you, I would book an appointment with a physio specialised in diastasis or postnatal health.
I would also be a bit worried about the pain, I'm not experiencing itConfused

Thanks for the reply @ameliae

I have been doing exercises but not recently because Of my back. I managed co close the gap down by a couple of Cms but only after my boys first birthday.

Yes, I haven't found anyone with the nerve pain issue I'm experiencing which is worrying me a bit.

I hope it gets better soon!
You did very well closing the gap a bit on your own, I hope the doctors find how to help you further!
