Sex 3 weeks + 5 days after childbirth

I gave birth to my DD 3 weeks and 5 days ago. I had second degree tear and had stitches. It’s all healed really well and I’m not in pain down there anymore. Me and DP decided to DTD tonight and it felt fine. No issues. But I’ve googled how soon after childbirth should you DTD and it says you should wait until 6 weeks PP to avoid infection and now I’m terrified. Can anyone reassure me?

I lasted about the same amount of time. Was painful at the beginning for a few minutes but otherwise fine. No damage done Smile

@iamDdog no idea why I googled it. Silly of me really, of course it was going to tell me what I did want to hear (or read). But, thank you for the reassuranceSmile

If you feel alright it's fine.

I mentioned the six week wait on here the other day and was told that was old hat! I googled and it is old hat.

Enjoy! I admire anyone who feels ready so soon, blimey it was eight weeks before I stopped bleeding and ages after before feeling like it. You've healed up well.

Good for you.

PS: Just to give you a laugh, when I googled the latest guidelines for starting to have sex post-natally, one phrase stood out: "There is no one size fits al". Made my day!

Your cervix takes roughly 6 weeks to close. You risk infection having sex any earlier than that.

Engard, that is what I always thought. Why then have all the guidelines changed? It's no skin off my nose (or anywhere else :-), I'm well past having more children but it does seem people are being given mixed messages.
