Painful sex

Hi (hope this is the right section for this).
I gave birth to DS nearly 11 weeks ago, I had an episiotomy and lots of stitches. A few days afterwards I got an infection underneath the stitches so they had to be removed, basically leaving my with a hole to the side of my vagina! This took about 4 weeks to close and heal, but everything felt and looked normal again and no pain or bleeding for weeks now so me and DH attempted sex last night.
It was so so painful, a very extreme soreness but quite high up inside (not at the opening). We made sure we used lubricant but the pain was too severe to even carry on trying. I’d have thought at nearly 11 weeks I would have been ok, but could it have been too soon? Or does it sound like a problem that a Dr would need to examine? Any similar experiences?

I had stitches with DS which healed fine and we had sex after three weeks, I’d say from memory it took another 5/6 weeks of sex for it to not feel uncomfortable / painful.

Sorry didn’t finish before I pressed send, it was uncomfortable but we could keep going. You describe it as really painful which I would get checked out tbh as a good amount of time has gone by

I had this after a second degree tear. I got a referral to the ‘women’s physio’ where they saw that I had scar tissue from the stitches and were able to help me. Please don’t suffer unnecessarily. Get yourself sorted. After I had the treatment sex was better than ever. Good luck

Thank you, going to try again in a few days and if it’s no easier then I’ll make a docs appointment for next week. I hope there’s nothing wrong. It does feel a bit swollen up there.

I had an episiotomy which became infected. Had several courses of antibiotics. Took about 10 weeks to fully heal. I don't think we had sex until about another month or so after that. It was sore for me for a while and had to stop on several occasions. I was going to go to gp but it got better by itself and lately there hasn't been any pain at all. I had my daughter 8 months ago. Maybe best to get gp to check it out though.

2nd degree tear inside, after 10 weeks we tried but was still sore ecen with lube. Tried again a few weeks later and each time we managed to last longer and longer.until it wasn't hurting or uncomfortable anymore.

However, if there's a sharp pain of suggest getting checked out just in case. You really don't want to risk it, especially if you want to be intimate!
